Our transportation roots date back to 1943 when John Simourian (a first generation American) was turned down for enlistment due to a back injury.

Not to be deterred from “doing his part” he quit his job and met with the commander of the Watertown, MA arsenal who said the military needed additional truck transport from the arsenal to the Charlestown Navy Yard. John enlisted other family and friends who were medically unfit for military service into driving trucks with him transporting torpedos from the Boston arsenal to the Navy Yard at Charlestown, MA.
When his son John graduated from college in 1957 he joined his father as a salesman in what had by then become a northeast regional trucking company.
In 1958 John started his own business and named the company Lily after his mom because his father told him it would make her happy. Lily Transportation Corp. started as a leasing company and in 1967 began a trucking division for Lincoln Foods hauling Lincoln Apple Juice from Lawrence, MA to supermarkets throughout the Eastern states.
In 2007 Lily became solely a Dedicated Contract Carrier after selling the leasing division to a major national leasing company.
Today John Simourian II (named after his granddad) leads Lily’s over 500 employees who design and operate highly efficient, service sensitive dedicated transportation systems for clients throughout the United States.
Clients such as RockTenn, Lindt Chocolatier, Whole Foods and Subaru all count on Lily to get their products to market On Time and On Budget through Lily’s custom engineered Dedicated Logistics Systems.

John A. Simourian
Chairman of the Board & Founder
John A. Simourian founded Lily Transportation Corp. in 1958. He is a graduate of both Harvard College and The Harvard Business School and he served in the U.S. Navy. John is the Chairman of the Board and continues to be active in and passionate about the transportation industry. John has served as a Member and Chairman of the Board of both NationaLease and the Truck Renting and Leasing Association (TRALA). He is also co-chairman of “Three Million Jobs Now,” a committee of business executives advocating infrastructure investment.

John Simourian II, President and CEO, started with the company over 20 years ago. John is a graduate of Bates College as well as the executive education programs at Harvard and Stanford Business Schools. John has served on the Board of The Center for Quality of Management (CQM), and the Board of Governors for the National Private Truck Council (NPTC).
James E. Walker
Executive Vice President
Jim is our Executive Vice President and a University of Alabama graduate, (RollTide!). Jim also is a graduate of the Harvard Business School Executive Education Program. He is a decorated U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. Jim joined Lily in 1985 and oversees all operations.
Jonathan L. Baldi
Vice President of Sales & Engineering
Jon Baldi, Vice President of Sales & Engineering, has been with Lily for over 20 years. He is a Bentley College graduate and he has successfully developed, grown, and supported Lily’s Dedicated Contract Carrier business with his extensive knowledge of logistics system design and engineering.
Vice President of Operations and Safety
Peter Crowley, Vice President of Operations and Safety, is a senior executive with over 20 years of experience leading operations, sales and safety in the transportation/logistics and wholesale distribution industries. Pete holds an Executive MBA from Case Western University and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He has completed Supply Chain training at Penn State University and at The University of Kentucky as well as executive education programs at Arizona State University and at Case Western Reserve University.
Vice President of Finance and Administration
Eric Bromage, our Vice President of Finance and Administration, has been with the company since 2012. He is a graduate of the Executive MBA program from the Northeastern University D’Amore-McKim School of Business. Eric oversees all finance, accounting, and administrative functions driving efficiencies in back office processes which allow for Lily’s intense focus on customer’s needs.
Regional VP of Operations
Gary Martin, Regional VP of Operations, comes to Lily with 30 years transportation industry experience. He earned his bachelor’s degree in economics from The College of the Holy Cross and his MBA from Boston University. Gary is responsible for leading and ensuring the operational efficiency, service excellence, quality assurance and customer satisfaction & growth for the clients in his region.
Justin W. Poor III
Vice President of Operations and New Business Startups
Justin W. Poor III (“Jack”) has been with Lily since 2007 and holds the position of Vice President of Operations and New Business Startups. Jack is a Bryant University graduate and has over 40 years of experience in the transportation industry.

The Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center (DF/HCC) Men’s Collaborative to Cure Women’s Cancers is an initiative to support cutting-edge, collaborative research in breast and gynecologic cancers across the Harvard academic medical community. Co-Chaired by Lily’s Chairman of the Board, John A. Simourian, and advised by senior DF/HCC women’s cancers faculty leaders. Lily is a primary Sponsor of this organization. The National Baseball Hall of Fame:
Lily helps to fund the activities that provide education through the sport of baseball to children. Children have fun learning math through baseball in batting averages, the geometry of a diamond, word problems and more. Reading is more fun when learning about great ballplayers and their heroics. Children learn about character by playing baseball as they learn to win, to lose, and support one another. Lily provides no cost transportation for all donated used and new baseball equipment from American families and little league organizations from Maine to Florida. Equipment is distributed to children and leagues throughout Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic and this effort has expanded across 30 U.S. states and into Canada.
